Karen Mason Blair’s 1st NFT drop. Grunge Collection - Kurt Cobain @ Opensea

“Alone in the Fame” – here Kurt Cobain shines both in the spotlight, and the mind of those who watch. He stood here, alone in the light, only for brief moments at a time but was never truly alone on stage. He was surrounded by his grunge family, by punk artists, by fellow outcasts and by trailblazers like Karen Mason Blair. From deep in the pit, to behind the stage Karen brought her camera along for the adventures that artists like Kurt Cobain invited her to join. Together they immersed themselves in music and creativity.

Karen’s “been everywhere man”, you might not know her name yet but certainly you have seen her images! Throughout her career as an entertainment photographer, her immersive and award-winning photos have appeared on album covers such as Kurt and Krist in Santa hats on the album “In Utero”, and Nirvana’s 2019 “Live At The Paramount” vinyl.

In Karen’s first NFT drop 09/23/2021 that you can find on Opensea, she shares the soulful exuberance that was captured on stage. “I like to say that all good movements start with a small group of impassioned people; it just so happens that the grunge movement was made up of only 300-500 people. This local, core group of musicians helped support and build the underground momentum, as they were always attending other bands’ shows and events. The number of people in this grunge family was not what changed the music industry, it was the depth of talent, and the passion in every individual.”

Her desire to share this drop with the fans inspired her to release these NFTs for increased availability. “Grunge fans live all over the world, and they deserve the chance to participate in this drop.” She has also decided to keep the NFT costs low to offer more people the opportunity to join the movement. “My fans are the best and like I say, ‘Always take your friends with you, it's way more fun.’ Since I’m starting at the ground level, we all have the opportunity to build this thing up together.”

Karen is beyond excited for this new season of her career. “Finally, I have an outlet and community to share the art I make with my photos as well as my photos themselves, this is  an amazing opportunity for all artists.”  Not only is this Karen’s first  self-released NFT drop; this is the introduction to her first colorized photos. After this release, she plans the release themed band blocks of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and more.
